Tecnology and environment

Thanks to the technology used, the clean coarse sea salt produced by Salina Miramar attains the food grade of purity even before the final processing. This degree of purity is attained by physical and biological methods, free of chemicals.

Among the most advanced procedures of the salt industry used by NORSAL we list the following:

artemiaThe use of artemias (brine shrimp), a small crustacean, as a biological filter to purify the brine during the concentration process.

Salt harvesting with washing system, with static separators and centrifugation, the only one in Brazil. This assures very high efficiency in the final stage of harvesting, by removing the insolubles and reducing humidity, producing high purity coarse salt.

Fully-automated systems of grinding and refining, without hand contact in the Processing Unit.

Precise control of the process of iodizing the salt, with dosing pumps that guarantee full benefit of iodine to the human and animal health.

Salina Miramar is outstanding as a modern industry in all the stages of its procedures, among which the biological control of the brine and of all the affected echo system – mainly on the surrounding mangrove swamps.

In order to preserve the environmental awareness, promote environment conscience of clerks and the local population, and to recover destroyed mangrove areas, an Internal Commission for Environment (CIMA in Portuguese), a project started in July 2006 to produce plant species of the mangrove vegetation to be planted on the degraded areas.
